About the Exhibition
Direction Forward, explores the transformation of found objects and discarded, remnant materials into contemporary, three-dimensional artworks and assemblages.
For this exhibition, I have used objects and materials collected from across the Northern Rivers, Southern Queensland, Sydney and beyond.
The works have a strong graphic and architectural sensibility, responding in part to my background as a sign writer, visual merchandiser and interior designer. And each piece plays on scale, form, texture and colour in unexpected and engaging ways.
My practice acknowledges the memory and nostalgia that are inherent in found objects and discarded, time-worn materials while presenting works which are contemporary and forward-looking in their approach and outlook.
Sincere thanks to Lone Goat Gallery, Byron Shire Council and especially gallerist Sarah Harvey for the advice and support in producing and promoting my exhibition.
